About Hill Country Barn Builders
Who we are
Hill Country Barn Builders is operated by Compass Camper LLC, an Oregon-registered marketing company. We are not a barndominium or barn contractor, and we do not perform construction work. We operate this website to connect Texas Hill Country landowners with licensed, independent local builders.
What we actually do
We run a free matching service. When you submit a project through our form, your details go to a licensed local builder who works in your county and can schedule a free consultation or quote. You deal with that builder directly for any design, pricing, and construction. There is no cost to you, and no obligation.
We make money the way most referral services do: a contractor pays to receive qualified introductions. That is why we can offer the matching to landowners for free, and it is why we are upfront that we are a marketing service, not a builder.
Why we built the permitting and cost content
A barndominium or barn in the Hill Country is a big, planned purchase, and the local realities, septic rules, wind load, wells, and limestone site work, are genuinely confusing and often misrepresented online. So we built plain-language, well-sourced references on county permitting and real local costs. Being the most accurate, most useful Hill Country building resource is how we earn your trust, rather than through claims we cannot back up.
What we ask of the builders we connect you with
The independent contractors we connect landowners with are expected to:
- hold the current Texas licensing required for their trades and work;
- carry general liability insurance;
- offer written workmanship warranties on completed work; and
- provide transparent, itemized written estimates before performing any work.
Credentials belong to those independent contractors, not to us. Contractor license numbers are available upon request.
About the editorial team
Content here is maintained by The Hill Country Barn Builders editorial team. The byline is the site's editorial identity, not a contractor and not an invented person. The team curates Hill Country building information and keeps the permitting and cost references current. Where a fact comes from a county office, TCEQ, or an engineering standard, we link to the source so you can check it yourself.
What you will not find here
No fake reviews, no invented testimonials, no stock-photo team, and no claims about years in business or jobs completed. We are a young marketing service and we would rather earn trust with accurate information than dress up signals we have not earned.
